FREE BOAT CHECK FOR MOORERS

To say thank you to all our loyal moorers, we would like to offer you a free pre-season boat check...

We know the last few months have been tough as everyone has been separated from what they love the most; for some that will be friends and family and others it may be their narrowboat?

Whatever it maybe we would like to offer all of our moorers a free pre-season health check for their boat, this is to assist you in getting back to boating as soon as possible.

Aqueducts free pre-season boat check will include the following:

Bilges

A visual inspected and emptying via bilge pump*
*(Subject to no contamination being present).

Stern Gland

Assessed for drips and wear of the gland packing.

Engine

We will run up your engine to get things lubricated internally and clear the damp.
The engine oil level will be checked along with both coolant level & mixture.

Batteries

Each battery is disconnected and tested individually; our battery testing equipment uses the specification of your battery to review and score its health on a scale of 1 to 100.

At the end of the health check each boat will receive a report card, listing results for the checks undertaken; if we feel anything is required this will be listed for review or we will call you on the day should action be more urgent.

Does your boat need a little more than our free pre-season boat check?

As an engineer will already be attending to your boat, we can also offer the following additional services, some of which will be discounted;

Diesel bug testing

£20.00
Bacterial culturing is used to test if diesel bug is in your fuel system; we can now grow diesel bug in a test tube with a sample your fuel should it be contaminated!

Standard engine service

£120.00 Approx* (1hr labour + parts) Normally £180.00 Approx
Reduced in price by one hour’s labour; our standard engine service includes fuel filter, engine oil and filter replacement along with more technical checks.
*Gearbox oil, non-standard instillations and traditional engine services can also be undertaken; for more info ask a member of the team.

Traditional stern gland packing

£70.00
Traditional stern gland packing can be replaced whilst we are undertaking the free checks; if you think this need’s completing or if we advise you it looks due; you can simply add this to the visit.

Boat cleaning

We are also glad to confirm that our interior cleaners are back to work and available Monday – Saturday from next week; should you wish to have the interior of your boat cleaned before you visit for the first time after lockdown this can now be booked. Just so that you know… Our interior cleaners have changed their practices to ensure they can work in a Covid-Secure manner changing the cleaning products they use to those with virus fighting ingredients. The boat cleaning price has maintained its original standard cost of £36.00

2018 the year ahead

I introduced myself to many of you at our Aqueduct Evening in February but for those of you that weren’t there I have worked at the marina for over 8 years starting as an Engineering and Electrical Apprentice and working my way to Operations Director in 2017.

I introduced myself to many of you at our Aqueduct Evening in February but for those of you that weren’t there I have worked at the marina for over 8 years starting as an Engineering and Electrical Apprentice and working my way to Operations Director in 2017.

As of December last year the Aqueduct board gave me, Phil Langley, the opportunity to become Marina and Operations Director overseeing the day to day running of Aqueduct’s whole operation, a position l was proud to accept.

So what does this mean for you?

I will be working hard alongside the support of his fellow board members and staff to provide you with the best moorings and facilities as part of our ‘One Stop Solution’.

One of the first things we have implemented this year is a WIFI Upgrade, part one a faster connection is now live and part two which is a hardware upgrade around the site will be installed shortly.

Two of our most popular services the chandlery and the café will be receiving a refresh in April.

With the help of our resident Gardener Woody we will also be upgrading, renewing and tidying other areas around the site to maintain and improve the standards we have set over our first 9 years.

This years’ Open Event (Saturday 21st July) is going to follow a different format and will be much more boat focused. A day designed for our customers, we will have staff, surveyors and suppliers on hand to answer your boating questions.

In addition to this we will be opening the doors to our facilities including our new controlled painting environments, re-vamped chandlery (April) and extensive engineering operation.

A selection of new and used boats will be on sale including our onsite bespoke boat builders Knights Narrowboats and Aintree’s ‘Fab Four’ Beetle range.

The day will roll into the evening with live music and a hog roast which will be complementary to all the moorers. For more details and updates keep an eye on our website and social media feeds.

The Middlewich Breach and FREE electric

As many of you will already know on Thursday 15th March the Middewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal breached between Wardle Lock and Stanthrone Lock. We are still very much open with lots planned over the next 12 months but this breach will affect those of you hoping to head East or do the Four Counties Ring now the Four Counties Horseshoe (as it’s now been renamed in our recent poll).

To reflect the fact that during the breach, cruising options are restricted, we are offering moorers FREE electric on all moorings until the breach is repaired. You can collect free electric cards from the chandlery or reception by showing your moorers card.

Please note: Your NEW moorers cards can be collected from reception along with a gift upon your mooring renewal. This card also gets you discounted pump outs and 10% off in our onsite café.

Your views matter

As part of the continued improvement of services we provide we will be sending out a customer survey in April along with some information on GDPR where we will be asking you to ‘OPT IN’ to continue to receive updates and offers from the Aqueduct Marina team.

If you have any questions or queries in the meantime then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Julie our Receptionist who will direct you to the relevant member of the team.
