The full Boat Painting service
The life of a narrowboat can be a harsh one – extremes of weather, overhanging branches, those infernal locks and narrow bridges that Thomas Telford and his colleagues put in the way to scratch the gunwales!
But fear not, for help is at hand. Here at Aqueduct Marina we are dedicated to providing a complete service to boaters from touching up paintwork to a complete bare-metal repaint.
The process we use is based on paints sourced from one manufacturer and are the most up-to-date available. We use a 2 pack epoxy primer, giving a high quality sealed substrate on which to overlay several coats of undercoat and gloss finish.
A comprehensive package
Our full range of services include a preliminary discussion comprising:
- Free, no obligation quotations
- Planning and scheduling
Painting services include:
- Coach painting by brush
- Traditional canal decoration
- Blacking with bitumen or 2-pack epoxy pitch
All options will be discussed in detail along with a clear indication of costs.
A professional finish
A paint job that will last! For that extra special finish we strongly recommend sandblasting to remove ALL old paint and rust. The process not only removes all the surface material but also provides a better key for the new paint to adhere to. It is said that using this process can extend the time to the next repaint by five years!
We have a slipway and purpose-built trailer to move your boat directly from the water to either the steam cleaning bay or our blasting shop for preparation. If coming by road we have an on-site boat gantry to take your boat off the lorry. Following this it will be moved into our purpose-built paint shop for painting by our own painters. We have a number of skilled signwriters we can call on who will realise your vision of your boat’s decoration.
