We are looking to recruit one more member of staff for our increasingly busy and successful boat yard.
Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina is an award winning 150 berth narrowboat marina and boat yard. We are constantly looking to grow and improve the facilities and services we offer. We are looking for applicants who will enjoy being part of an innovative, proactive and community based business which has a national presence in the Inland Boating network.
This is a manual, but responsible position assisting our skilled operatives around the boat yard. The main areas of work will be:
- Assisting with moving canal boats around the yard and marina.
- Assisting the shot blaster with operating his equipment.
- Assisting the boat painter with preparing boats for painting and refitting once the painter has finished.
- Steam cleaning and bottom blacking of narrow boats.
Any applicant will need to be happy to work out doors at any time of the year, must be able to work both on their own and as part of a team. No previous experience of canal boats is required, but an ability to be able to work with hand tools, larger equipment, safely and competently will be required.
Training and PPE will be provided, applicable to the successful applicant. The role would be suitable for some-one who is either looking to learn some basic boat yard skills as a stepping stone to becoming a more skilled operative, or equally would be suitable for someone who is happy to work in a hardworking and developing department as part of a multi-skilled efficient team.
This is a full-time position; Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm and some weekends on a rota. Rate of pay to suit the skills and experience of the candidate, but we expect to pay national minimum wage or just above based on age (£7.50 – £8/hr).
